UNDERSTAND THE PATH BEFORE CHOOSING THE TOOLS
What is Wicca?
Start with understanding.
A religion, a range of traditions, and more than a collection of spells.
Wicca is a modern Pagan religion with diverse traditions, often involving reverence for nature, relationships with deity, ritual, and seasonal observance. Witchcraft is a broader term for practices; not every witch is Wiccan, and not every Pagan follows the same path.
Some traditions are learned through an initiatory community. Others make room for independent practice. Our beginner guide explains those distinctions and offers a first-month learning path. You can read and explore before choosing a label or buying supplies.
We identify sources for factual context and describe our suggested rituals as original exercises. They are starting points for reflection and action, with room for the teachings of a tradition you follow. Read how we handle sources and authorship.

Do I need the app to use these resources?
No. The guides, moon phase finder, seasonal calendar, ritual planner, and candle-color explorer are free to use on this website. The Wicca app is an optional companion for iOS and Android, with free download and optional in-app purchases.
Where should a complete beginner start?
Read the beginner guide, keep a note of what you want to learn, and try one short practice. A notebook and a clear question are enough for the exercises here. There is no need to assemble a complete altar or master every topic first.
Can I follow the seasons in the Southern Hemisphere?
Yes. The Wheel of the Year calendar includes a Southern Hemisphere seasonal adaptation. The guides also encourage you to record local weather, daylight, and growing cycles rather than assume every place matches a temperate Northern Hemisphere calendar.
